Jenny van Ratingen is a multimedia artist working across painting and sculpture to explore themes from the Everyday and the intricate layers of family life and heritage. “We’ll see” delves into the symbols and omens embedded within mundane modern life—angel numbers, symbolic animals, algorithmic affirmations—and how these “everyday oracles” echo ancient forms of mysticism. Drawing on her Chinese-Australian background, Jenny reinterprets these symbols through layered paintings and laborious carving offering the viewer an intimate glimpse into the contemporary hunt for meaning and fortune.
